I have been involved in music most of my life. I studied classical piano with a prestigious
pianist/composer John Melnyk in Winnipeg, basically 9 years Toronto Conservatory music.
During my early teens, I was appointed Cathedral organist at St. Vladimir and Olga, by
Monsignor Kushnir, and performed for more than ten consecutive years. Accompanying
choirs, soloists, and many weddings. During my academic years at schools, I also accompanied
school orchestras, and performed at musical festivals in Winnipeg.
I then met and married my husband, and we were blessed with five children, who became the
center of my life. I then became a Sunday school teacher, and again became involved with
children's choir at a local church.
When the kids all attended school, I decided to join working with adults, and my job in
management was a nice change for me, as I grew up in ladies fashions in my parents stores.
Then again, I accompanied Christmas carolers during lunch time, where we sang for many of
the local office customers at the Hudson Bay Store in Winnipeg.
Composing music has always been my hobby since my early years. I did some background music
for my husband, a film production after a visit to Israel.
It is nice to be able to share with other artists, and appreciate all the talents in the world of
music. I enjoyed meeting musicians who also were members promoting their songs on the
My regards to all, and best wishes. Helen Koniuck.
